GivingTuesday is a global day of giving held each year on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. Created in 2012, GivingTuesday is a day that encourages people to do good, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.
This year, FAHASS is asking for your help transforming our community through the purchase of a mobile telemedicine unit.
FAHASS currently serves 11 counties across Central Virginia, a primarily rural population. There are many existing challenges to rural healthcare and those challenges become even more pronounced when addressing the spread of HIV. Rural communities face a lack of healthcare providers and large distances from the providers that are available. It can also be harder to find healthcare providers that are well-versed in HIV and associated risk factors. Add to this the economic disparity in these areas, lack of health insurance and high cost of care and it's clear that something needs to be done. FAHASS hopes to help by bringing our healthcare providers directly to the people.
By donating to FAHASS on GivingTuesday, you would be helping us bring culturally competent care to these marginalized communities. With a mobile telemedicine unit FAHASS would be able to:
treat more individuals in hard to reach areas
connect our rural population to quality healthcare
offer onsite lab work and immediate connection to our nurse practitioner
test more individuals and get them into care sooner
reach people unknowingly living with HIV and connect them to FAHASS services
ultimately improve health outcomes in our community
With your help, we can increase our positive impact on individual and community health in our area. Donate today!
